My Favourite Ultimate Weapons

Ultimate is, like its name reflects, the hardest type of challenge FINAL FANTASY XIV has to offer to their players. I'm way too dumb and bad at the game to even understand what's going on when I see a video about one of these spectacular fights aside from "Woah, flashy lights and cool effects!", so there is no way I'll ever get any of these cool shiny weapons (or their plates and titles)... but this doesn't stop me from being at awe with some of their designs.

Yes, all these weapons are mere reskins of already existing weapons with a glowy coat of paint over it and a special VFX with a theme inspired by the fight they come from (well, with the caviat of the new jobs not existent when the original content came out), but some of these fit so well that outshine their base form (usually in the literal way, but sometimes also figuratively).

Also, I know some picks are so bright that can't be fully appreciated, but I'm working with whatever I can find in Eorzea Database (and people there seem to don't know what a burnt picture or brightness settings are).

Time to stop rambling and start talking about the actual weapons. Remember that, as the title of this post implies, I'll only talk about the ones I personally like the most, so if you don't see any particular one you like you know why (I don't necesarily despise them, I can just feel indiferent towards them).

Elements Exclusive from FINAL FANTASY XIV Mobile

While it was recently announced that the game was terminated (poor devs, they couldn't even reach the end of A Realm Reborn), the adaptation for mobile devices introduced a ton of new and/or improved elements thanks to being made in a completely new engine (well, I don't know if it really was "new", but at least was newer than the one used by the main game). While the game wasn't even able to come out of China, it still gave us a ton of new things to discuss about. Will all of these changes come to the main game? Some? None?

Here I want to go through all (well, most) of these elements and say what do I think of their chances.

Tamable Monsters I Want for Beastmaster

When Beastmaster comes out, we'll get to use 50 different monsters from A Realm Reborn (with different skins and sizes). While we only know like 5 of those 50, I wanted to list all monsters I'd like to be able to capture and use. The exceptions I'll make are the following:

  • No Voidsents or Sin Eaters. Creatures like Succubi, Ahrimans (Ahrimen?), Flans or even the Cloud of Darkness itself would be awesome to command, considering their popularity, but it'll probably go too far on the job's logical capabilites. Sin Eaters come from this very game instead of being a reference to older games, but they're still weird to be commanded like beasts.
  • No Spoken (or "clever bois"). While super iconic enemies like tonberries and moblins are included in this category, it would be super weird from this game's lore perspective. Maybe some exceptions could be made, like namazu or hobgoblins, but I'm still too ignorant on the story to pinpoint those exceptions.
  • No artificial entities. Omicrons, Soulkin and Forgekin are the main cases. Again, we have several iconic cases like the Iron Giant or Omega itself, but it feels like a programmer would make more sense than a Beastmaster... Maybe we'll get it as a new limited job in 10.0? Also none of the enemies from the FFXI Alliance Raid series will count: if they were real beasts I definitely would go for it, but they're just electrope given form.

Ah, and obviously no regular people. The job is "Beastmaster", not "Slaver". I know that the resulting usable list is way shorter than it should be (and believe me if it were for me I would put even Ascians and Primals as tamable enemies.

That's everything to consider for now. Now it's time to list all the cases I'm interested in seeing as "playable".

My Thoughts on Every Anaheim Fanfest Announcement

Last month we had the first of the 3 Fanfests planned for 2026, the first ones since I started playing (well, technically... you know the gist already).

Trying to contain my hype for Berlin's Fanfest, today I want to share my thoughts on each and every announcement we had on this first Fanfest. I'm not going to rank the announcements in any way. Instead, I'll just list each one in order of appearance during the event, and this will include a few other things announced outside the main keynote.

Thinking About What Could Come in the Neon Genesis Evangellion Collaboration Alliance Raid Series

During Anaheim's Fanfest this year we got a ton of unexpected news for the game: both for the current patch series 7.5X and for the next expansion, Evercold. However, most would agree that the most unexpected of them all has to be the collaboration with Neon Genesis Evangelion, one of the most popular animes of all time, to be the theme of the Alliance Raid series of Evercold.

Questions I Would Like to Ask to Yoshi-P

What would you like to ask to the man himself if you get the chance to interview him? That crossed my mind several times, but I never thought on the questions themselves... until now.

Of course, is not I'll have the chance to ever do so, but it's fun to think about it nonetheless. Maybe the answers comes one day from another source, or you have some twin soul that's a game journalist to happen to ask that same question you're been having for such a long time. Who knows?

So, I decided to compile here aaaaaaall the questions I'd like to ask Yoshi-P if I ever have the chance. Share yours too, if you're fancy with that! Chances are minimal, but they're never a straight 0.

The questions here are not listed in any particular order. We might say the order is chronologically following when they occurred to me. No relevance, no content-specific, no anything. Anyway, here's the list.

My Wishes and Expectations for the Next Expansion

As I stated several times on this blog, this will be my first time I am aware of Fanfests, everything surrounding the end of the current expansion and the transition to the next one (at least from my perspective (remember, I started playing when Dawntrail was announced and skipped everything to barely reach endgame when literally everything from Endwalker was already out and done, so this is my first "full cycle")).

So, I thought it would be interesting to write about what I expect (or more so want) from my still very "sprout-y" perspective (I might have the Burger King crown, but I'm still, and probably will always be, quite the noob).
